Door Design Tool FAQ

Answer

With the expanded functionality of TruStile’s Door Design Tool, building a door schedule is easy. You can now configure more than one door at time, create and save projects, and export your projects as a door schedule in Excel and as DXF files to use in a wide variety of CAD programs. We have also added advanced configuration details, such as machining and pre-hanging. We’ll also help connect you to a local dealer to get budget numbers for your project.

Answer

Click “Start a New Project” to begin designing doors. Once you name your project, it will launch in the Door Design Tool.

All your saved projects will be accessed from this dashboard. You can search by project name or scroll through and click on a project to continue working on it.

Answer

When you are inside a project, use the menu on the left-hand side of the screen to configure your first door to your exact specifications. For example, you can choose your door style, change the dimensions, replace panels for glass, change the material, add a mirror to one side, and more.

Then, click “Save Changes” on the right-hand side of the menu to add the door to the ribbon. To start a new door, click the “+New Door” button to add a new line. The New Door button will always copy the last door you configured. Simply make changes to the door as needed, and then hit save changes. The ribbon will automatically update.

Using the ribbon, click on any line to pull it up on the main screen for editing. You can also copy lines, change the quantity of each line, and delete lines. “Click to Add Door Label” allows you to customize the line with a label. When you are finished, click “Save Changes” to update the line.

Drag and drop a line to reorganize the doors in the project. You can also click on the line number to edit. The ribbon will update once you click save changes.

Answer

There are many options when you are finished with your project. The following selections can be done within the configurator or by right-clicking on a project in your personal dashboard:

Export Door Schedule outputs an Excel document with the information you have entered on all doors. Once it is downloaded, you can edit the document to add columns and customize your output.

  • Standard provides all the essential details you will need to share with your team.
  • Expanded includes almost all the details you have configured, including machining and pre-hanging information.

Print Drawings allows you to print all your door designs as PDF files, on separate pages or condensed for easier viewing.

  • Choose “without dimension” on either the Large or Condensed print out to create a Type schedule.

Generate DXF Files will momentarily lock your project in order to download a zip folder with of all doors designed in your project. Click the pop-up that tells you your files are ready, and the folder will automatically download. You can use these DXF files in a wide variety of CAD programs.

Answer

From within your project, click “Get Budget Numbers”. This will lock your project so that TruStile can generate a unique code which will be used to transfer the information to a certified local dealer who will provide a quote. If you have a preferred dealer, we will send it to them. You can then work directly with the dealer to make any changes to your quote. From the dashboard view, you can also right-click and use “Save As” to make a copy of your project for further editing.
